Autism Conversations: Parenting the Siblings of Children with ASD

Siblings of children with ASD experience many positives but also many challenges, as do their parents. This discussion will include ideas and resources, as well as practical suggestions. This talk is appropriate for parents of children with ASD and their siblings who are elementary school age and below.

Nancy Kopnick
Dr. Nancy Magnus Kopnick has consulted in family homes and schools on behavioral and educational issues for children with developmental disabilities for 25 years. Her areas of expertise include autism, family support, challenging behaviors, ADHD and program evaluation. She is the founder of the CITE Program at RHC Inc., a first of its kind home and school based training program in Hamilton County. Dr. Kopnick has received the “Professional of the Year Award” from the Hamilton County ARC in the past, as well as an Award of Appreciation from The Autism Society of Cincinnati. Dr. Kopnick received her Ph.D. in the Developmental Disabilities track of Public Health from the University of Illinois at Chicago and a Masters in Education from Peabody College for Teachers of Vanderbilt University.

Autism Conversations are meant to increase knowledge and stimulate dialogue on topics of interest. Speakers will discuss the identified topic from 6:00-7:30pm and from 7:30-8:00pm attendees and professionals will be encouraged to network and speakers will be available to answer questions.
