Upcoming Changes to Ohio’s Waiver Waiting Lists

Waiting lists for Medicaid waivers in Ohio are changing this year.

With input from people with developmental disabilities, their families, and other stakeholders, the Ohio legislature passed a law earlier this year requiring waiting list changes by every county board of DD in the state. These changes go into effect on Sept. 1, 2018.

Hamilton County DD Services is hosting several in-person information sessions where you can learn about the changes and ask questions. Find more information here.

To learn more about why you might participate in meetings to discuss NEMT, you can read this Governing Magazine article that shows how some states may consider eliminating this “optional” service because of federal efforts to trim Medicaid costs.
